This guide walks through the default onboarding flow from sign-in to your first console view.
Step 1: Sign in
Go to gitvertex.com/signup and use one of the available sign-in options. GitVertex uses OAuth, so there is no separate password to manage.
When you authorize GitVertex, it requests the access it needs to:
- read your basic profile information.
- discover the repositories or projects you can connect.
- sync repository data and power in-app PR actions.
Step 2: Choose your source
During onboarding, GitVertex asks which source you want to connect:
- Personal account or namespace — Creates a free personal workspace for one person.
- Organization or group — Creates a team workspace for shared use and starts the 14-day Pro trial for that workspace.
GitVertex currently supports one connected GitHub or GitLab source per workspace.
Step 3: Select repositories
GitVertex discovers the repositories or projects available through the source you selected. Pick the ones you want in this workspace. You can change that selection later from Settings → Workspaces.
Selected repositories are synced right away. GitVertex pulls in open PRs, recent activity, and repository metadata.
If repository webhooks are configured for your deployment, Pulse and console updates will arrive faster. Without webhooks, scheduled sync still keeps the workspace current.
Step 4: Invite your team
If you created a team workspace, invite teammates from the welcome screen or Settings → Team. GitVertex supports both email invites and reusable invite links.
Each member can be assigned one of three roles:
- Owner — Highest workspace role. Owners can manage billing, members, settings, and integrations.
- Admin — Can manage billing, members, settings, and integrations.
- Member — Can use the workspace and manage their own personal notification preferences.
See Members and roles for details on permissions.
Step 5: Use the console
Your Console is ready. Open pull requests are organized into smart sections:
- Needs Your Review — PRs where you are a requested reviewer.
- Returned to You — PRs you authored that have changes requested.
- Approved — PRs you authored that are approved and ready to merge.
- Awaiting Review — PRs you authored that are waiting on review.
You can filter by repository, author, status, and last-updated range. See the Console guide for a full walkthrough.
What happens next
GitVertex keeps syncing in the background. As your team opens, reviews, and merges PRs, Console, Pulse, and Insights stay up to date through scheduled sync and, when configured, webhooks.
