Workspaces

A workspace is the top-level container in GitVertex. It holds the connected GitHub or GitLab source, the repositories selected from that source, your team members, integrations, and billing settings.

GitVertex currently supports one connected code-host source per workspace.

Workspace types

Personal workspace

Every GitVertex account includes a free personal workspace. Personal workspaces are designed for individual use and support:

  • One connected GitHub or GitLab source.
  • A single user.
  • Console, Automations, Pulse, Insights, and digests.

Personal workspaces are always free.

Team workspace

Team workspaces are designed for collaborative use. They support multiple members with role-based access control and start with the 14-day Pro trial when first created.

Team workspace capabilities include:

  • Multiple team members with assignable roles.
  • Shared Console, Automations, Pulse, and Insights.
  • Email invites and invite links.
  • Slack notifications and workspace-level billing.

Creating a workspace

You create your first workspace during signup. To create additional workspaces:

  1. Open Settings -> Workspaces.
  2. Select Add workspace.
  3. Choose the GitHub or GitLab source you want that workspace to use.
  4. Select the repositories you want in the workspace.

Switching between workspaces

If you belong to multiple workspaces, use the workspace switcher in the sidebar to move between them. Each workspace has its own console, activity feed, and settings.

What lives in a workspace

  • Connected source — The GitHub or GitLab account, org, namespace, or group tied to the workspace.
  • Repositories — The repositories or projects selected from that source.
  • Members — The people who have access to this workspace. See Members and roles.
  • Integrations — Connected services like Slack. Manage them from Workspace settings.
  • Settings — Repository selection, team management, notifications, integrations, and billing. See Workspace settings.
  • Subscription — The billing plan associated with this workspace. See Billing.
